And the news is not very digestible but here it is: a consular officer told me that while there is a hole in my arse, my van will not be allowed to enter the Republic of Cyprus! (He didn't quite use the same words but you get my drift!)
Last night I racked my brains (what's left of them!) as to what alternatives are open to me? Well, I have a friend back home, who when hearing of my plight has offered to let me stay at his flat near Kyrenia. So my thought is to see if I can arrange for a removal company to transfer my personal belongings into one of their vans and take it through the border to the south and put it into storage. Meanwhile see if I can register and pay the duty on my van in the Turkish Republic of Cyprus. If I can then sell it and with the money buy a Turkish car and drive across the border. The only snag, as far as I can see (Which is not that far at the moment) is my motorbike which may or may not get pulled up while crossing in the removal companies van?So that's the plan at this moment in time. Meanwhile I'll just lounge around in the sunshine, swim every morning and evening in the Med and enjoy the wonderful food and hospitality which is presently at my disposal. I will shortly have loads of photographs to put up but meanwhile the sun is shinning and the sandy beach is calling my name :-)
Note: Part three was written on the 4th July but I lost Internet connection and only managed to log on an hour ago when I arrived here at my friends place near Kyrenia. I will update tomorrow as I'm a little brain dead right now.
