It's all kicked off!

I left Baja, as planned on the stroke of 9pm Sunday evening. Making my good-byes was not easy, especially with my aunt as we both realised it will probably be the last time we meet! ;-( I crossed the border to Romania just after midnight. So that's why I havn't posted since the 25th June.

I'm afraid internet connection was non-existent since I left hungary. Petrol stations in Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey had never even heard of the internet!

Right, Romania. there is very little to say except most of the roads were horrendous. Also I lost count of how many dead dogs and cats I came across at the side of the roads. Mind you it's no wonder as the dogs seem to roam around in packs and that's in the middle of nowhere! As one drives by they try to attack the vehicles, which explains the carcasse's! Constanta was just a massive port and very little else and of course the traffic jams, so I high-tailed it out of there and headed for Bulgaria.

There is even less to talk about  Bulgaria apart from the black sea! (Yes, I know Constanta is on the Black Sea and it's also where the Danube shed's it's waters into it) I had been driving for about sixteen hours when I caught sight of it's glimmering haze  far away in the distance as I reached the top of a snaking mountain road which seemed to go on forever. It spurred me on to keep driving and three hours later I could make it out in the distance. It took me a further hour to find a suitable spot to park up, by which time the sun was low in the sky. I slipped off my sandles and when the first wave came in only to cover my toes I sharpky made a quick retreat. It was bloody freezing! In the morning I watched the sun as it rose slowley above the mountains I had left behind the previous day and out came my camera. As I pressed the second exposure it shut down! The battery had run down and I'd forgot in my tiredness to recharge them!!! Never mind, I experienced it and it was marvelous.

I headed on to the Turkish border where I expected a load of hastle but surprisingly it went fairly smoothly apart from being robbed blind with this that and the other.

Right I will continue this tomorrow as I've booked into a rather posh seaside holiday hotel and it's time for din-dins and apart from that I'm bloody knackered after yesterdays goings on.
