Three days in Pafos

Just returned from the South and I'm now about ninety-fiver percent certain I'm going to stay in TRNC (North Cyprus) and the Greek Cypriot Government can go fuck themselves! Why I hear you say, well let me think about it...I've thought about it. For a start the Turkish Cypriot people seem a trillion miles friendlier than in the South. The cost of living all round is considerably lower than in the South. Even the Turkish authorities i.e. customs, police are more helpful. And I could go on and on and on and on and on! Oh and I will; the Greek Cypriot Government are thick as shit! Imagine keeping 98 barrels of explosives in a a building that is not closed to the environment! Rumour has it, it's going to cost the Cypriot Government 3 billion Euros to build a new power station!!! And who is going to pay for that? Yes you guessed it, those poor dummies out on the street never mind the loss of fifteen lives! On top of all that, all road improvements have been put back for a minimum of five years. Since the tragedy there have been two hours of power cuts on a rota basis for the whole of the South and could continue for a further five years as well! Who'd want to live there, not me!

Now that I've finished with my little rant, here are a few pictures I took while on my visit.

This beautiful example of a hunting dog (A pointer) turned up at my friends (They've named her Lilley) place a few weeks ago. It's a female and was probably abandoned either because it was no good at it's job or because it's in the 'family way,' or both. The cats annoy the hell out of her and it goes right over her head. This morning she was busy chewing her bone and was jumped upon and in turn she jumped about two feet in the air with fright!

It's a year for the Cicada's in Cyprus. This type appear every three years and make an almighty row but only during daylight hours.

These wonderful little Hedge-Hogs are abundant during the summer and are great amusement for my friends cats who will  try to eat anything but give these spike riddled lovelies a wide birth.

A beautiful flower (Don't ask me what it's called) in my friends mountain retreat.

Sunset over the roof-tops of Pafos.

On my return to TRNC today I went to view a three bedroomed property in a place called Lapta and has a swimming pool. It would be just what I'm looking for, the only drawback is the price of rental but I'm working on that. One has to bargain in this part of the world don't you know ;-)
